David Democker

On Tuesday, May 7th, David Lyle DeMocker, loving husband and father, passed away at age 74.

Dave was born on October 20, 1949, and grew up in Fairport, NY. After graduating from Fairport High School he enlisted in the army and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant, attended St. John Fisher College, and graduated in 1979 with his degree in accounting.

He worked for Dow Chemical for 13 years, and later joined Cadillac Products where he would finish his career and meet the love of his life, Holly Hansen.

Dave had boundless energy and optimism, and a bright smile that lit up every room he entered. He lived life with unbridled enthusiasm and an unwavering spirit. Dave approached every challenge with a fearless determination, often finding himself in the midst of unexpected adventures.

His “happy accidents” were merely a learning opportunity and a memorable story for those lucky enough to share in his antics. Dave loved the outdoors, and especially sharing it with friends and family. Whether it was sailing, skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking, or biking, outdoor adventures with Dave were always special.

Family was the cornerstone of Dave's world. His love for his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and especially his children shone through in every embrace and every word spoken.

He cherished every moment spent with those he held dear, his devotion unwavering and unconditional. But perhaps Dave's greatest joy was in the joy of others. Always up for a good time, he was the life of the party, the first one in the buffet line, and the last to leave the dance floor.

His laughter was infectious, and his zest for life an inspiration to us all. Though Dave may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear, in the stories we share, and in the love we have in our hearts. We ask that you honor him by joyously living life “like Dave would.”

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Holly Hansen-DeMocker, his children Jen (Kevin) Dittmer, Amy (Jim) Baehr, Sara (Brandon) Reed, John Democker, Ben Hansen, Heather (Benjamin) Cenis; his adored grandchildren Maddie, Sadie, Will, Annie, Mya, Isabella, Arianna, Kellen, and Nash; and Mica, his beloved dog.

Visitation at Georgia Funeral Care, 4671 South Main St. in Acworth, Georgia on Monday, May 20 from 10- 12, followed by a celebration of life service from 12-1 at the same location. A reception to follow at the Logan Farm House in Acworth, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Cure PSP or the Michigan Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
